In the center of village Mače, turn right at the marked intersection and drive up the narrow road above the village to a large parking lot. From the parking lot, head back toward the road, which will take you to a fork in less than half an hour; turn left toward Kališče. Cross the stream and, after a short while, take the marked hiking trail that runs between two cart tracks. Follow the trail, then turn onto a path that leads you to a bench on a hilltop with a view. The trail then enters the forest and begins to wind upward, giving the impression that you’re gaining elevation quickly. The forest gradually thins out, and the trail leads you to the Kališče mountain pasture, from where it’s about a 15-minutes walk to the Kališče Mountain Guesthouse.
The trail climbs moderately up an open slope, offering increasingly beautiful views of the valley and the surrounding peaks. After a short climb, you’ll reach Guesthouse in Kališču, a popular mountain hut on the southern slopes of Storžič, where you can rest and refuel before continuing on or descending into the valley.
